About The Dartmoor Halfway Inn
The Dartmoor Halfway Inn is a historic country pub renowned for its warm hospitality, extensive menu, fine food & reasonable prices. Meals & bar–snacks are available throughout the day. Trading hours are 11am to 10.30pm (Sundays 12 noon to 10pm).
The pub is also a famed hostelery with 12th century origins. It is located on the edge of Dartmoor, midway between the ancient stannery town of Ashburton, and the market town of Newton Abbot. The 'Halfway' Inn was originally a 'change coaching house' providing a change of horses for coaches & private carriages. A bed for the night was also available for those that needed it.
Today, only the horses are no longer available. The landlords, Dean & Simone Singer, continues the tradition of extending a warm & hearty welcome to all visitors.
The 'Halfway' title indicated that it is midway between Ashburton and Newton Abbot. It provides a cosy, on-site atmosphere completing the uniqueness of its facilities and its central location, only 4 miles from Dartmoor. It is an ideal centre for visiting most of Devon.
