About The Dartmoor Halfway Inn

The Dartmoor Halfway Inn is a historic country pub renowned for its warm hospitality, extensive menu, fine food and reasonable prices. Meals and bar–snacks are available throughout the day. We are Open All Day - Every Day from 8.30am.

The pub is also a famed hostelery with 12th century origins. It is located on the edge of Dartmoor, midway between the ancient stannery town of Ashburton, and the market town of Newton Abbot. The 'Halfway' Inn was originally a 'change coaching house' providing a change of horses for coaches and private carriages. A bed for the night was also available for those that needed it.

The 'Halfway' title indicated that it is midway between Ashburton and Newton Abbot. It provides a cosy, on-site atmosphere completing the uniqueness of its facilities and its central location, only 4 miles from Dartmoor. It is an ideal centre for visiting most of Devon.
